Woody Notes

    Woody scents belong to the warm family of fragrances. It is a captivating scent and is a favourite among aftershaves. It’s a great choice for wearing in the evening.

    Woody fragrances are split into mossy woods with earthy, sweet undertones, and dry woods. They often have a smoky, leathery smell.

    Floral Notes

      Example: Estee Lauder Beautiful Eau De Parfum

      The most popular of the fragrance families, and broadest. Any scent that has a sweet and flowery smell will belong under this family. Utilising notes such as roses, jasmine, lilies, and peonies.

      Floral fragrances can range from being light and delicate to being complex and intense.

      Fresh Notes

        Example: ck One by Calvin Klein

        This family of fragrances usually comprises of citrus, water, and green notes. What are green notes I hear you saying? I had the exact same thought! It is described as Galbanium. What is that? It is a popular ingredient in fragrances extracted from a certain type of Asiatic plant species.

        Of the citrus-based fresh fragrances they are created using lemon, mandarin, and bergamot. When it comes to water fresh fragrances they are made with notes of sea spray. The fresh green fragrances are often evocative of herbal and leafy scents. They have a crisp and uplifting smell.

        Oriental Notes

          Example: Pink Sugar by Pink Sugar

          Oriental fragrances are sweet, warm, and a little spicy. Of the family of fragrances this family is more luxurious varying from floral oriental, soft oriental to woody oriental. Woody oriental is also referred to as woody amber. Oriental perfumes and aftershaves are rich and sensual.

          Cardamon, cinnamon, and even vanilla is often used to create interesting notes in oriental fragrances. 

          Fragrance Strength

          Fragrances strength ranges from Eau de Parfum (EDP), Eau de Toilette (EDT), Eau de Cologne to Eau Fraiche. The higher the concentrate of perfume oil the longer the fragrance will last.

          Eau de Parfum (EDP) = 10-20% perfume oil – 8+ hours
          Eau de Toilette (EDT) = 5-15% perfume oil
          Eau de Cologne = 2-4% perfume oil
          Eau Fraiche = 1-3% perfume oil – 2 hours
