Keep going and strive for your goals

“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming” is the most significant lesson taught by the Finding Nemo film. Essentially, it means never give up, which is a common consideration for an athlete or anyone on a fitness journey. The mind will often give up while the body can still deliver. By pushing through the initial ‘can’t-go-on’ mindset, you’ll be surprised how much more you can do.

The cardiovascular system is made up of your heart and bloods vessels. During exercise, the heart rate increases, and the arterial blood pressure elevates. When you exercise regularly, your body builds a tolerance and stamina and improves oxygen circulation to your heart.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:

  1. Target heart rate the fitter you become, the harder it is to reach your target heart rate. When your fitness improves your heart works more efficiently and you can start to move with less effort.
  2. Resistance training can help improve your endurance, which is great to promote lean body mass and basal metabolism. Increase both repetitions and load levels for stronger and more durable muscles and bones.
  3. Your body will begin to change shape when you exercise. You’ll lose fat and gain muscle, adding to overall improvements in your physical, mental and social health.
